100 Career and Transfer programs offered by Northampton Community College
The Skills, Tasks and Results Training (START) program is for individuals looking to start a career in a rewarding, high- powered environment with multiple career paths.
This 300-hour course prepares the student to go straight from the classroom into the workforce and teaches the foundation of hospitality operations while promoting the long-term career pathways available to student, providing four industry recognized certifications. The training will also include 55-hour field experience at a hotel, resort or restaurant.
“Our region can only benefit from training programs like the START program that build our workforce and support lifelong learning”, said Lucyann Vierling, Executive Director for Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance.

“The vision of the Hospitality Management program is to provide industry with individuals with a passion to deliver great service combined with a positive attitude and work ethic. The START program is a dynamic training program that will imbue participants with those attributes,” noted David Schweiger, Director for Hospitality Management programs, Northampton Community College.

Hospitality management is one of close to 100 career and transfer programs offered by Northampton Community College. Many were developed to serve workforce needs. The College has sites in Monroe and Northampton counties and also offers classes online.
Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance is the Community Education Council of Wayne and Pike Counties. The site in Hawley is behind the Sunoco station.
